Colours of 2016: Rose Quartz and Serenity

For the first time, Pantone has decided to select the blending of two shades as their chosen colour of the year. Ou team at Little Love, has fallen in love with these soft hues of pink and blue.

It is a known that today we are stressed individuals with too much on our plates. Due to this reason trends for home interiors have moved to soft colours, that addresses our yearning for more tranquil lives. According to Pantone, “Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.” Little Love believes that these neutral, yet soft and warm shades is the perfect balance for your nursery.

Not only do these shades create a restful environment for your baby, but this colour combination also addresses the gender roles often associated with colours. In many parts of the world, we are experiencing a gender blur as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted colour trends throughout all other areas of design. This more unilateral approach to colour is coinciding with societal movements toward gender equality and a generation that has less concern about being typecast or judged. It has opened our eyes to different approaches to colour usage.
